Zhetisu Wind Farm

Project Description:The Zhetisu Wind Farm is a major renewable energy project planned in the Zhetysu region of Kazakhstan near the Dzungarian Gates. The project aims to install a 1 GW onshore wind power facility complemented by a 300 MW/600 MWh energy storage system. Developed by ACWA Power, the project is part of Kazakhstan’s strategy to increase the share of renewable energy in its electricity mix and meet carbon neutrality goals. The infrastructure will also include a 300 km transmission line connecting the wind farm to KEGOC’s Aktogay substation. The project will contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and provide a sustainable source of electricity to the region. It is expected to attract significant foreign direct investment and create hundreds of construction and operational jobs.
