Project Name: KAZ Minerals Smelting Copper Smelter in Abay Region

Project Description: KAZ Minerals Smelting, a subsidiary of KAZ Minerals, has entered into an agreement with China Nonferrous Metal Industry’s Foreign Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd. (NFC) and NFC Kazakhstan to construct a copper smelting plant near Aqtogay village in the Abay Region. The facility is designed to process copper concentrate from the Bozshakol and Aktogay mining and processing plants, as well as from the processing plants of LLP "Vostoktsvetmet". The plant will have an annual production capacity of 300,000 tonnes of copper, making it the largest copper smelting operation in Kazakhstan.

Expected End Date: 2028

Investment Volume: Approximately $1.5 billion
